Mages will also be interested in the Robes of Crackling Flame, which is a good alternative to the expensive crafted Spellweave Robe robe. The upgradable Kirin Tor rings such as Ring of the Kirin Tor sold by Harold Winston in Dalaran do not require Kirin Tor faction to purchase, but higher Kirin Tor reputation levels do make them less expensive to buy and upgrade. There is also a very good Tailoring pattern, Pattern: Sapphire Spellthread, and a Jewelcrafting pattern, Design: Brilliant Scarlet Ruby. Kirin Tor faction is useful for those who wish to purchase the head enchants Arcanum of the Flame's Soul and Arcanum of Burning Mysteries. Mages have an advantage in that they all start out Friendly with Kirin Tor, due to their affinity with the arcane arts. The members of Kirin Tor are now cautious about who is let into their organization in fear of more defections. The remaining members of the Kirin Tor were determined to salvage the ruins and reclaim their once magnificent city.

Building reputation with Kirin Tor is primarily achieved through a combination of a quest line and daily quests, and by running dungeons while wearing the Tabard of the Kirin Tor in level 80 Heroic dungeons beginning at Friendly reputation, as well as a few select normal level 80 dungeons. The Kirin Tor faction is based in Dalaran in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
